Fact #165615

When:

Short story:

When The Cure play the first of two nights at the Mainstreet Cabaret, Auckland, New Zealand, Oceania, their wild behaviour causes problems with the management of their hotel and the band is obliged to move elsewhere.

Full article:

Robert Smith (The Cure) : I’d woken up (keyboard player) Matthieu by playing music or something, and he just snapped and chased me through the hotel. So I locked myself in this room and he kicked the door down and started to beat me over the head. Then he went back to bed. He may have been jet-lagged but, well, I thought, ‘I’m not having this.’ So I went back to his room and just jumped at the door and the whole thing went in. By this time, the hotel people had been aroused.

We couldn’t get booked into any hotels after that.
