Fact #164433

When:

Short story:

Jimi Hendrix adds his lead guitar part to Experience bassist Noel Redding's song Little Miss Strange at Record Plant, New York City, USA.

Full article:

Eddie Kramer (engineer) : Jimi had a lot of fun putting the lead guitar on. It was a D.I. (direct injection) with a wah-wah pedal, recorded on top of a ton of acoustic guitars Noel had already put on.

Noel Redding (bassist, JHE) : The band actually broke up in the summer of '68, but no-one knew about it. See, we'd go down to the studio to start recording at tea time, about 6pm, that was our arrangement. Well, I went down there for two days and no-one even turned up. That's when I did Little Miss Strange just to fill in the time. That was when Chas walked out, because he couldn't work like that.

Chas Chandler (co-manager, Jimi Hendrix] : We didn't fall out during the recording of Electric Ladyland, so much as the sessions seemed to fall apart out of apathy. In New York, during the recording, I was spending a lot of time trying to stop the intake of illegal substances. There were a lot of hangers-on turning up at the studio and any artist in that situation is inevitably going to start playing to the gallery instead of to the tape machine.
