Fact #162404

When:

Short story:

The Jimi Hendrix Experience play at Troy Armoury, Troy, New York State, USA.

Full article:

Mike Jeffery (co-manager, JHE, in NME) : Jimi's completely knocked out with the success. For the next couple of weeks he's going to rest up a bit. They don't have any more dates until they go back to England, so Jimi's working on some songs.

Hugh Hopper (Soft Machine) : After the tour Gerry and the management had other problems to deal with ... the flood of paternity claims from real or imagined Hendrix screwees began to drift in from places across the nation. There were other legal matters too. At one concert, a theatre stagehand had taken the opportunity to vent his latent violence and had leapt with both feet on to the arm of a young girl who was reaching out to the stage at the end of Jimi's set. Obviously thinking that the screaming and shouting of the ovation was the first sign of a Commie revolution, he had chosen this 13-year-old as his victim and had broken her arm, and with pleasure.
