Johnny Black : Produced by Paul Simon, Shaka Zulu has a sophisticated, almost churchy ambience. It’s also a compilation, of sorts, because Simon’s approach was to get Africa’s premier vocal music group to re-record many of its greatest hits, using his undoubted prowess as a producer to make the performances more accessible to sophisticated Western hi-fi obsessed ears.
