Mike D (Beastie Boys) : I was only 21 when Licenced To Ill came out, and that record was just the sound of the three of us goofing off. Everything we did was stupid. When we were asked what kind of stage show we wanted, the first thing we could think of was a giant dick, so we had one made. It seemed the obvious thing to do at the time.
We used the dick down in Alabama and Carolina and completely freaked everyone out. We were immediately banned and they passed a Beastie Boys Ordnance outlawing outrageous and immoral behaviour in a public place.
The cool thing about being Number One is that nobody else is Number One, so everyone has to sit on your dick. At once.
