Viv Albertine (guitarist, The Slits) : I don't think we were ever considered a band that was worth nurturing. We were just a bunch of girls.
I think the timing was very relevant. Things began to change at the begiunning of the 80s. For me, the punk thing lasted two or three years. After all that excitement, we suddenly found ourselves in a period where it was all about business and making money. The Slits were never about making money and being commercial.
Signing with CBS had not been a good move. It was too big and that didn't suit The Slits.
