When:

Short story:

The LP Roots: John Lennon Sings The Great Rock 'N' Roll Hits was issued on the Adam VIII label in the USA. The label belongs to music business entrepreneur Morris Levy, a man of, to say the least, questionable integrity. The album consists of tracks given to Levy by Lennon, but it is released without Lennon's permission. It will sell 1,270 copies on vinyl, and a further 175 on 8-track, before production is halted by a legal action from Lennon and Capitol Records.
