Andy Partridge (guitar/vocals, XTC) : Our fourth album, Black Sea, did well in America. That was when we were on RSO, Robert Stigwood’s label. He came to see us at a gig in New York. He was so out of his fucking box. In the dressing room afterwards he went round shaking people’s hands and asking who they were and he came round and shook my hands seven times. Each time I said, "Well, I’m Andy, you’ve just seen me on stage. I sing in the group you’ve just signed to your label.” He did this seven times.
