Mike Zwerin (journalist) : They arrived on top of the Pan Am Building which still then had a hell-pad. It's right above Grand Central Station, like a cigar. Anyway, all the music press was up there, in the lounge, and the helicopter lands and they come off. And what a sight that was. First of all Hendrix by himself but with Mitch Mitchell, and then the Soft Machine with their big furry coats and long hair. We went, 'Fucking Christ, this is a fucking invasion. That was amazing.
