Full article:

Ron Blackmore (tour manager) : I was out there trying to find guitars every day from guitar shops. I'd loosen the neck and try to get it ready, and hope that Pete could just drop it, so that it fell in half, and didn't smash it completely, because we couldn't replace the bits.

Ian Clothier (audience) : Townshend smashed up a Strat, and hurled what was left of it into about the fourth row. I can still see my mate, Les Wellstead, emerging from the pack with the neck of the ill-fated guitar in his possession, being chased by souvenir hunters. However, the security waited until we were filing out and, in that post-concert dreamy state, we were extricated from the crowd and the souvenir inexplicably confiscated.
