Fact #150138
When:
Short story:
The Beatles start work on the George Harrison song Within You Without You, at EMI Studio 2, Abbey Road, London, England, UK, Europe.
Full article:
George Harrison : Klaus Voorman had a harmonium in his house, which I hadn't played before. I was doodling on it, just playing to amuse myself, when Within You started to come. The tune came first, then I got the first sentence. It came out of what we'd been discussing that evening.
Geoff Emerick (engineer) : George really wanted to do his own thing, which he found – especially Within You Without You – and the Eastern influence led onwards. He had a path to go down, 'cause he knew he wasn't gonna do what John and Paul were doing.
When we were recording George's songs, there wasn't as much time spent on it as there was on John and Paul's. George, I'm sure, felt sort of put down by that. It always seemed his mind was somewhere else.
