Fact #146943

When:

Short story:

James McArthur And The Head Gardeners release their second album, Burnt Moth, on Moorland Records in the UK.

Full article:

On his second outing as a frontman, Paul Weller’s former drummer continues ambling down the introspective, folksy path he established on his debut. McArthur’s none-too-expressive voice is nothing to write home about, but there’s a languid charm about it all, and the expressive string arrangements by Head Gardener Jim Willis perfectly complement the melancholy lyrics. McArthur’s delicate guitar picking style provides a stable bed for his rambling melodies, which often seem to have been dictated by his lyrics. Ultimately, lacking obvious standout tracks, this album is probably best enjoyed as a whole, letting its tranquil atmospheres infuse your living space.
