Pete Townshend : I missed one of the only Who shows of my career when I took my third acid trip – then realised I could not possibly drive to Morecambe where we had a show – 300 miles away. (Source : Mojo – April 2009)

Mike Dickinson (guitarist, The Doodlebugs) : Before we went on we had a ten-minute conference backstage and decided to do stuff like Dancin' In The Street and In The Midnight Hour and a few Who hits, which I busked through, trying to keep up with John and Keith. I played a full set with The Who that night. Except for the last number, Boris The Spider, when Roger asked me to leave the stage as they were going to smash a few things up.
