Denis Desmond (promoter, MCD) : My first memory of the agent Steve Strange (of X-Ray Touring) was giving him a boot up the arse when he tried to sneak backstage at a Def Leppard gig at the SFX by hiding inside a laundry basket. We caught him and threw him back out into the hall, but then some years later he came and worked for me at The Limelight in Belfast, kind of cut his teeth there booking all the bands. He did a very good job there and got to know virtually everybody in the business which was what eventually enabled him to move to London.
