Local 493 (The Negro Musicians' Union) holds its first annual Orchestra Cavalcade, at The Senator Ballroom, Eagles Hall, Seattle, Washington, USA, with The Bumps Blackwell Orchestra, The Vernon Brown Band, The Joe Gauff Band, The Bob Marshall Sextet, Billy Tolle's Combo-Clashers, Len Brook, The Jabo Ward Combo, Merceedees Walton, The Four Question Marks, The Cecil Young Quartet and Al Hickey's Jive Bombers. The event is a benefit concert and dance to raise money for new offices and the union's relief fund.
