Fact #141449
When:
Short story:
A Good Heart, the first solo single by Feargal Sharkey (formerly of The Undertones) reaches No1 in the UK Singles Chart.
Full article:
Nancy Phillips (45 Management) : I first met the agent John Giddings in the early 1980s. The management company I worked for represented The Undertones, then Feargal Sharkey (solo) and That Petrol Emotion, and Thomas Dolby. John (Solo/ITG) was the agent for Feargal, That Petrol Emotion and Thomas.
I remember John arriving at our offices on the day Feargal’s first single A Good Heart went to Number 1, laden with champagne. There had been other agents looking to represent Feargal as a solo artist, but John clinched the deal that day. Not because of the champagne, I hasten to add. It was just that he was his usual humorous self, and made his points succinctly. I always liked him because he didn’t display male chauvinist traits (unusual in the 80s!) and was respectful to females.
