Alain Lahana (promoter) : John Giddings (agent, Tears For Fears) is mad about cars and I was friendly with the people at the Le Mans Racing Circuit, so I booked the last show of the Tears For Fears tour at Le Mans. I was able to get Curt Smith, John and myself to go round the circuit with Formula 3000. That was the only date he came to on that tour! He arrived so late that we had already done our runs with Curt and myself, and then John went out with a driver, and the guy crashed the car! Not John - the driver!

John Giddings (agent, Tears For Fears) : I love fast cars. I booked Tears For Fears in Le Mans just to get a drive round the circuit in the car that came third. But they took me to Circuit Paul Ricard and I got in a Formula 3, but I don’t speak French so I had no idea what the guy was saying. So I drove out onto the circuit and went round for five laps. They went crazy at me because I was meant to be following another car.
