David Sarnoff, manager of the Wireless Station of the Wanamaker Department Store in New York City, USA, writes to Edward J. Nally, general manager of the American Marconi company, telling him, "I have in mind a plan of development that would make radio a 'household utility' in the same sense as the piano or phonograph. The idea is to bring music into the house by wireless." It would be another six years before Sarnoff would see his vision begin to be realised.
