When:
Short story:
The 20th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, Somerset, England, UK, attracts 70,000 fans who pay £38 each to see The Cure, Happy Mondays, Sinead O'Connor, Aswad and World Party. Souvenir programmes cost a further £3.
To reflect the diversity of attractions at the event, the festival's official title is now The Glastonbury Festival for Contemporary Performing Arts. Regrettably, the three days end with 235 arrests and £50,000 of damage when a confrontation erupts between security and travellers who are looting the emptying site. Even so, donations of £100,000 are made to CND and other local charities.
