Lamont Dozier (songwriter) : One of the things that we did - I know I certainly did - when I felt like I was in a slump for writing and couldn't come up with something, was search for ideas in my own personal relationships. One of these instances I had with the song Stop! In The Name Of Love. Brian Holland actually came up with the music part of it. I got the title out of an argument with a girlfriend at the time. I was arguing with my girlfriend and I said, 'Stop in the name of love,' and we both started laughing and stopped arguing. I said, 'What did I say?' And she said, 'Something about stop in the name of love.'
