Fact #127010

When:

Short story:

Tom Jones is playing at The Copacabana, New York City, USA.

Full article:

Jay Bernstein (publicist) : During his performance this strange incident occurred. Tom was moving from table to table, stopping here and there, singing directly, as if personally to some of his female friends. Suddenly a woman stood up, slipped off her panties and handed them to him. Mills told me later that Tom was startled, women had slipped him napkins with phone numbers on them but never their underwear.

June Harris (reviewer, NME) : Looking super-groovy in a tight-fitting black tuxedo, showing absolutely no tiredness either from his previous dates in Florida, the taping of The Kraft Music Hall the day before, or extensive rehearsals on the afternoon of his opening, Tom socked his way through an hour and fifteen minute selection of songs, coming back for three encores, because the audience wouldn't let him leave.
