When The Jimi Hendrix Experience play at Imperial College, London, they are supported by a little-known covers band, 1984, whose guitarist, Brian May will go on to an illustrious career with Queen. May idolised Hendrix to such an extent that he'd been nicknamed "Brimi" - a combination of the two guitarists' names.

Brian May : He's sort of the god of guitars - electric guitars. He came along and left things very different from the way it was before he started.

Brian May (on having curly hair) : I thought it was something dreadful and used to straighten it until the early days of Queen. And then, lucky for me, it became OK. I think Jimi Hendrix changed people's ideas of what was cool. Jimi Hendrix changed everything, really.
