Chris Wells (fan) : A friend’s girlfriend, who had never heard of Marvin, drove us over in her van. He was at the height of his powers as a vocalist and delivered a classic show, full of routines like getting down on his knees to plead during Distant Lover. The only sign of age was that, after a dance routine, when his two partners threw their hats into the crowd, he kept his woolly cap because he was obviously balding. By the time we drove back, even our reluctant driver was a convert.
