Fact #117290
When:
Short story:
Proto-punk band The London SS is rehearsing in London, UK, with a line-up that includes future members of The Clash, The Damned and Generation X.
Full article:
Tony James (Generation X) : I met Mick Jones at the Fulham Greyhound in about 1974. We were trying to form a group which was similar to the New York Dolls, and we ran a whole bunch of adverts in the Melody Maker for a singer/guitarist into the Stones and The Dolls, all those kind of groups. We got a very long letter from a singer in Manchester, who wanted to come down and see us, who said he was a total New York Dolls fanatic. I guess it must have been a premonition, because it turned out to be Morrissey.
Casino Steel (London SS/The Boys) : It was just a bunch of disillusioned hopefuls really, who didn't know what to do and didn't like anything that was happening. We only rehearsed and recorded because there was a 4 track recording studio in the basement.
