Hilly Kristal (owner, CBGB’s) : The second time Television played at CBGBs, they had The Ramones with them, and they were even worse than Television had been. They really were. What was so bad about them was, for a start, their equipment kept breaking down, and they were constantly yelling at each other. It was terrible, a fiasco. Joey wasn’t so bad, but Johnny was always yelling. Dee Dee couldn’t play bass. Tommy was a good drummer though. They only had a few songs in the set, but they would never get all the way through any of them. It would take over an hour to play them by the time they’d had all the fights.
