John Norman (venue owner) : When we opened the club, people came for ballroom dancing. We had a nine-piece house band and this worked out fine for a while but as the years progressed things started to change and we noticed when the band had a break and the chart music came on the PA, the dance floor filled.
So we started to think what to do. We looked around, knew we were a big venue and could hold 1100 people, so we thought we'd get some name bands in.
