Jazz double-bassist and pianist Johnny Dyani, who played with musicians including Don Cherry, Steve Lacy, David Murray and Leo Smith, dies aged 40 in Berlin, Germany, Europe. In the early 1960s, Dyani had been a member of South Africa's first integrated jazz band, The Blue Notes.
