Bruce Dickinson (vocalist Samson/Iron Maiden) : Samson only played a few gigs with Maiden on the same bill, because fairly quickly after that they got their record deal with EMI and accelerated into the distance. I was acutely aware that they had a big following and I checked them out when Samson were headlining above them at a venue called the Music Machine. I stood at the back and watched them and it was obvious to me that they were streets ahead of everybody else on the bill.
