Short story:

Pete Quaife, bassist of The Kinks is injured in a car crash, and taken to hospital in Warrington, UK.

Full article:

Pete Quaife (bassist, The Kinks] : To get away from the bad atmosphere that had now developed around The Kinks, I used to drive to and from gigs with the equipment roadie, Jonah (Pete Jones), who lived next door to Ray and Dave. We did a gig in Blackpool and we were driving down to Manchester and I fell asleep. Then so did he.

I woke up when there was this almighty jolt and a crash and I remember thinking, "Why the hell have we stopped on the motorway." We had hit a stationary truck. I tried to open the door and it fell off. I thought, "It's not supposed to do that, surely." Then I realised what had happened. He was pretty badly injured and I had a broken foot and concussion.

We both ended up in hospital in Warrington. I've still got the scars. While I was in hospital, I had time to reflect on it all. Dave and Mick came to see me in hospital, Dionne Warwick dropped by as well, she happened to be around. But Ray didn't come and I thought, "You bastard."
