We'd almost forgotten what it was like, 'cause we were used to that every night, every time we played (in the UK), and suddenly we were brought down, bang, everybody saying, 'What a fuckup, we've blown it.' America was still very much into Frankie Avalon. There wasn't any thought of long-haired kids, we were just entertainment-business freaks, with long hair, just like a circus show. And we get to New York and suddenly we realize that maybe we... that it's just starting.
