Artie Traum (local musician) : Back then, any schlub musician could live here (Woodstock) and make $50 to $75 a night, playing backup in a club or doing a recording session. It was a true renaissance.
Jim Weider (local musician) : Everybody from Janis Joplin to all the great musicians who backed them lived around town and they'd go and jam locally. You never knew who was gonna come in, whether it was Rick Danko or Jimi Hendrix.
Artie Traum : You'd see Joplin, Hendrix, Morrison in the street, playing in the clubs. The combination of old-school Republican farmers and drug-crazed hippies certainly produced an interesting atmosphere.
