Physician and chemist Sir James Jay invents
the first modern invisible ink, one which could only be revealed by a unique, specially formulated reagent. This was his solution to a major problem - the need of the USA to transmit messages which could not be read by the British during the Revolutionary War. Artists including Aimee Mann, Marillion, Verbose, Chateau Berber and Blowsight have all been inspired by Sir James' invention to write songs entitled Invisible Ink.
