It is announced that Taylor Swift's new album, Folklore, has sold over 1.3m copies worldwide in its first 24 hours on sale. It has also shattered "the global record for first-day album streams on Spotify by a female artist" with 80.6m streams, and has become "the most-streamed album on Apple Music in 24 hours" with 35.47m streams.

Peter Green, founder of Fleetwood Mac and an influential British blues guitarist, dies, aged 73, in Canvey Island, Essex, England, UK, Europe. No cause of death is immediately released, but he had suffered extensive periods of mental ilness for many years.
Grime rapper Wiley is dropped by his management company, A-List Management, and temporarily banned from posting on Twitter after he makes a series of social media posts widely considered to be antisemitic. The police are also reported to be investigating the posts after being asked to do so by the Campaign Against Antisemitism.
