With no prior announcement, Neil Young releases a new all-covers album, A Letter Home, as a 12" vinyl-only release. Recorded in a vintage 1940s Voice-O-Graph recording booth - the size of a public telephone box - at Jack White's Third Man Studio.
It is announced that Prince has signed a new recording contact with Warner Brothers, eighteen years after he quit the label, protesting that his contract had effectively made him a slave to the company. The new deal sees him regain ownership of his catalogue.
