Alex McEwan, sixth Laird of Bardrochat in Carrick is born in Marchmont, Polwarth, Scotland. He will come to prominence in the 1950s as a folk-singer and recording artist. He and his brother Rory McEwan will appear regularly on the BBC current affairs programme tonight.
