The controversial hippy musical, Hair is playing at the Biltmore Theatre on Broadway, New York City, USA, during a run of 1750 performances.

The rock musical Hair (which includes a scene with a fully nude cast) is presented during a run of 1,997 performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London, England, UK, Europe. The cast includes Marsha Hunt, Paul Nicholas, Sonja Kristina and Jimmy Winston.

David Bowie plays at The Auditorium Theatre, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The Slider by T.Rex, on Reprise Records, enters the Billboard Hot 100 Albums chart in the USA, where it will peak at No17 during an eleven-week run on the chart.

Columbia Studio at Columbia Square, Los Angeles, California, USA, is closed down after attempts to reach new contracts with the engineers' union have failed. This had been the West Coast recording, dubbing, editing and disc mastering studio for Columbia (and the first Coast studio owned by the label itself), opened in March 1961 on the grounds of the old CBS Radio studios, with the former CBS Radio Studio A renovated and converted at a reported cost of $500,000.
