Former Staff Sgt Barry Sadler, best known for his militaristic right wing 1966 hit, The Ballad of the Green Berets, is injured by a bullet to the head in a taxi cab in Guatemala City, South America. The authorities conclude he was drunk and accidently shot himself. Friends and family say he was the victim of a robbery or an assassination attempt.
