Although Jones' body contained significant quantities of drugs and alcohol, Dr Somerville concludes that the cause of death was drowning, but notes that, "For a man of his age, his heart was a bit larger than it should have been. It was fatty and flabby. His liver was twice the normal weight. It was in a state of fatty degeneration".
