The great jazz and pop guitarist Barney Kessel dies of brain cancer, aged 81, in San Diego, California, USA. Kessel's guitar was heard on records by artists as diverse as Ella Fitzgerald, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
