Melvern Noll, owner of Fun Land amusement park in Highland, Illinois, USA, reports to local police that he has seen a brightly illuminated UFO "about the size of a football field" above his parking lot at 4.00am. The sighting is confirmed by other observers, including police officers, later that morning. The incident will inspire Sufjan Stevens to write his 2005 song Concerning The UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois.
