Ian Hamer dies, following a heart attack, in Brighton, England, UK. He had found success as a jazz trumpet player, working with Tubby Hayes, Ted Heath, Jack Parnell and Johnny Dankworth to name but a few. As a session musician, he played on recordings by The Beatles (Got To Get You Into My Life), Bing Crosby, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand, James Last and Matt Monro. The second day of the first Osheaga Festival takes place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals, Islands, Wolf Parade, G. Love And Special Sauce and Damian Marley.
