French musical arranger and filmscore composer Michel Bernholc commits suicide. Under the pseudonym Burundi-Steiphenson-Black, he enjoyed a UK hit in 1971 with the track Burundi
Black, for which he grafted a rock arrangement over the top of
a field recording of Burundi Drummers of the Ingoma tribe made
in East Africa. The same rhythm was subsequently sampled for tracks
by Joni Mitchell, Adam And The Ants, Bow Wow Wow, The Beastie Boys and others.
