Fact #94852
When:
Short story:
The Beatles play at The Cavern Club, Liverpool, UK, in what will prove to be their last gig with drummer Pete Best.
Full article:
Pete Best (drummer, The Beatles] : We were loading the van with equipment one night after playing in The Cavern Club. Brian came up to me and said he would like to see me in his office at 10.00 the next morning.
Bob Wooler (deejay, Cavern Club) : I learnt that Pete Best was going to be sacked the night before it happened. I could imagine it with someone who was constantly late or giving problems, but Pete Best was not awkward and he did not step out of line. I was most indignant, and I said, "Why are you doing this?", but I didn't get an answer.
