Ann Peebles (singer) : I used to play songs by people like The Marvelettes and Mary Wells and have my broomstick for my microphone and I'd pantomime. Looking at it now, it's all so silly but that's one of the things that probably helped me venture off, because I dreamed of that. And as I was doing it, I was saying to myself 'this is fantasizing now, but I'm gonna do this until it becomes reality'.
