Booker T : Green Onions was the first time I ever played organ on record.
Steve Cropper (guitarist, The MGs) : As a quartet our first cut was Green Onions, which we made when we were looking for a b-side to put on Behave Yourself. Man, it was done in two takes. Then we had to think up a name so we thought of Booker T and the Memphis Group. Finally, this was cut down to Booker T And The MGs.
Al Kooper (founder of Blood, Sweat And Tears) : The main influence I had when I was growing up was Booker T. Jones.
