Indian Reservation by The Raiders reaches No1 in the Billboard Top 40 Singles Chart in the USA. The song, written by John D. Loudermilk, was originally released by Marvin Rainwater as The Pale-Faced Indian in 1959 but flopped. A cover by British singer Don Fardon reached No20 on the Billboard Chart in 1970, but The Raiders' version cleaned up, hitting the top, selling over 1m copies and scoring a gold disc.
