Johnny Wise (head of promotions, Pye Records] : If you look at the release date of Have I The Right, and then look at when it got to No1, you'll see that there's a big gap. That's because it was a very difficult record to get played. The deejays and people at the radio stations just didn't want to play it. And, when a record wasn't getting played, the record company would lose interest in it. I was in fact told to drop it, but I had such faith in that song that I kept taking it back to the radio again and again until they started to play it. And I was eventually proved right.

It was produced by Joe Meek, and after the record was successful, he presented me with a gold watch in recognition of my efforts on behalf of the song.
