Alf Bicknell (Beatles' chauffeur) : We were on location for Help! on Salisbury Plain, driving from the hotel up onto the plain. It was a blustery, cold, freezing day, and John taps me on the shoulder and asks if I'd like to go on tour with them. Well, I thought I was on tour, I was on location, so I said, 'Yes,' because there's no half measures with John. You don't um and ah. Then it struck me that in three days time they were due to start the American tour, and I didn't have my passport ready.
I had to get a visa, innoculations, everything in three days, then I'm on the plane with them. And the champagne started to flow and, before we got the States, I was well away.
