Full article:
Andy Prevezer, Head Of Press, WEA Records : I was at Glastonbury Festival, talking to Rob Stringer from Sony in America – who had been in rehearsals with Michael Jackson two weeks earlier. I got a call on my mobile from Dan Cairns at the Sunday Times who told me he was watching Sky News and Michael Jackson was dead. I couldn't quite take it in. When I told Rob that his main charge had died, he said, 'Andy, don't be so f***ing ridiculous. He's a picture of health.' All around us I could see and hear phones going off all over the tent, I'll never forget that.
Barry Gibb (Bee Gees) : Michael was a good kid, a very warm human being. He told us it was Fever and Spirits Having Flown which influenced him so our two families are linked.
Around the time of the Victory tour he was absolutely down on anyone taking anything and was an absolute perfectionist in everything he did.
Somewhere in the ten years after that he changed. I never saw him take anything, but I certainly recognised the difference in his personality. The flightiness and having to be somewhere else all the time.
Some people are more susceptible than others to substance addiction. Some people can go through their entire lives without touching anything regardless of the pressures.
Everyone stood around and helped Michael get these things and take them. That's mega fame where you're suddenly in a world where people will do anything for you, even if they know it's wrong.
That was the type of person you were dealing with towards the end.
