Jules Leotard makes his first public appearance as a trapeze artist, with the Cirque Napoleon in Paris, France, Europe. He will become the first person to turn a somersault in mid-air and the first to jump from one trapeze to the next. His fame will be recorded in the 1867 song The Daring Young Man On The Flying Trapeze, which will become a music hall favourite.
